My World, Your World | Valleyview Alberta Photographer

Last month, I introduced you to my latest project – My World, Your World.  I love the idea of this project so much and I am so thankful my partner is Susan Nawyn, a photographer from South Florida.  Florida is such a contrast to where I live…  northern Alberta.  While Susan is enjoying her beautiful, warm Florida weather, I am here — enjoying the -30C/-22F  temperatures:) It’s not as bad as it sounds, but it is cold.

This month our theme is “Weather.”  I was going to use a landscape shot that I took.  A shot that showed a endless blanket of snow.  But, after waking up to -31C temperatures the other day, I thought that it would be more fitting to take a shot of  my thermometer!  Then you could really see how cold it is.  A landscape shot doesn’t portray the coldness as good as this:) Of course, the thermometer rose slightly when I moved it to the sunshine to take a photo of it…  but, it’s still awfully cold!

Need a little bit of warming up?  Head on over to visit Susan Nawyn of Suna Photography and see her interpretation of this week’s theme.  And, don’t forget to visit 4 The Love of Focus so that you can see our finished diptych showcasing both of our images together.

Fifty-Two on Friday | Valleyview Alberta Photographer

The theme for week 7 is “Texture.”  The choices of subjects were endless…  you could pick just about anything to shoot.  Everything has a different texture…  food, everyday objects, things in nature…  the list goes on.

I was going to take a photo outdoors – maybe of some bark, tree needles…  whatever caught my eye.  That was my first instinct.  I decided I needed to think outside of the box and shoot something a little bit different than I normally would.

This week, I photographed the artwork of my resident artist.  It’s bright, colourful, and with my macro lens, you can see every little bit of texture in the paint.  I photograph this sort of artwork all of the time, but hadn’t ever photographed it using a macro lens.  It gave me an entirely new and beautiful perspective of her art.  And, it’s colourful too…  bright and cheerful just like her:)

Next up in our group is Christine Blaylock, an Illinois Photographer.  Visit her site and see her interpretation of this week’s theme!
